Once again the end of the day word from the wood shop is not about woodworking. Today it is about photography. One of the more common questions we have gotten about Ray's Variety regards the source of the photos we use. Indeed we do take all the pictures unless something is credited otherwise, such as a link to YouTube. Generally when folks learn this detail the response is something like "oh, that's interesting", or, "good for you". Which can make one pine for the sound of a voice rather than to see these responses followed by the emotionless impatience of a blinking cursor. But I digress.
Yes, we take all the pictures. Not because we want the web publishing process to take twice as long, which it does, but because a decent photo tells a good story and can enhance an ill-crafted phrase. The reverse, not so much.
Years ago a village shaman shared "it's all about the light, genius". True that. And in that light (sorry, pun intended) we close today with a peek behind the curtain showing how some of the Ray's Variety photographic magic happens.
